Proceedings and activities of POSTECH2008 have been finalized at Sharm al Shaikh. Egypt post chairman, Eng.Alaa Fahmy, confirmed that the conference had received a great interest from the countries allover the world, and became an important and especial event on the agenda of the international events. The conference sessions, Fahmy added, between the leaders of post organizations have witnessed, to a great extent, introducing ideas and perspectives. "No future for Egypt Post without applying modern technology, so linking between Technology and post is necessary", Fahmy highlighted.
Egypt post issued 2 commemorative stamps in the occasion of "POSTECH2008" event which is hold in Sharm al Shaikh. The two stamps carry the slogan of the conference, Pharoaonic characters and Sinai map, displaying the location of Sharm el Sheikh in south Sinai. The first stamp was issued in the value of 30 piaster, while the second in the value of 150 piaster.
Egypt and Jordanian post signed an agreement to start the final running of the electronic remittances services between each other. The pact came during the third and last day of the conference and the second international exhibition for the post technology in Sharm El Sheikh.
Amidst an international participation, Proceedings of the second exhibition and conference for post technology, "POSTECH 2008" began in Sharm EL Sheik. 90 countries, 500 technology experts, in addition to 50 from the most prominent technology companies are taking part in the international event.
Egypt post Chairman Eng/Alaa Fahmy declared that the second conference and Exhibition for Post technology "Postech" which will be hosted by the Egypt post organization in " Sharm EL Sheikh" from the 16th of November till the 18th aiming at exchanging experiences between the international post organizations and exchanging the successful rehearsal of the international companies with high technology in this field and reviewing the new ones , in addition to discussing the most obvious challenges which face the Post industry with the leaders of this service , the employees , and the legislators . Moreover, it aims at proving what Egypt post achieved through using technology and sharing experience with the more progressive countries to benefit from their success in the way of the continuous development for Egypt post , and to inform the telecommunication companies for the necessity of creation and developing new tools to serve this service which would achieve billions of dollars.
Egypt Post has commenced the executive procedures for an overall plan to employ all graduates of department of Post, Faculty of Commerce, Helwan University from 2003 till 2008.
In the first year of its application, the volume of direct remittances reached 2.5 billion L.E, through 3600 offices of the Egypt Post unified network.
Eng. Alaa Fahmy, Chairman of Egypt Post, accompanied by Minister of Telecommunication, Dr. Tarek Kamel and Brigadier Adel Labib, the Governor of Alexandria, have inaugurated two newly-developed post offices in Alexandria -- one in Al-Mansheya and the other in Salah El-Din area.
