POSTECH2008 Kicks

Amidst an international participation, Proceedings of the second exhibition and conference for post technology, "POSTECH 2008" began in Sharm EL Sheik.  90 countries, 500 technology experts, in addition to 50 from the most prominent technology companies are taking part in the international event.

During the opening session, Eng.Alaa Fahmi Egypt Post chairman delivered a speech to greet the attendees, and stressed on the necessity of benefiting from the modern technology to creat new opportunities for the post industry and developing the post sector to achieve the strategy adopted by the international post union.

Fahmy said that the conference is considered an opportunity for decision makers to gather together, and to meet with the regional and international information technology companies to phase a new vision, as well as to develop the postal services in quantitatively and qualitatively, in addition to providing chances to the postal organizations, the IT companies and the governments as well, to exchange new experiences to connect between the IT and postal services.

In addition, he pointed out the pivotal role that the IT has in supporting and developing the criteria of the postal, social, financial, and the overall services offered to citizens. He added that the Ministry of Telecommunications believes in the prominent role of the post sector and sees it as the basic element in the technological structure of the Egyptian government, so it calls for enhancing the process of reframing the Egypt post and changing its role in the society to be more comprehensive and to be an economical motive, so that it can play a major role in development through offering its organized quadruple services which include financial, postal, societal , and governmental services , by depending on economical basis, and developed and strong technological structure according to the international criteria and trends . 

At the beginning of his speech Edward Dayan the international post union CEO expressed his great pleasure to participate in "POSTECH 2008" conference in Sharm el Sheikh, which he described it as a charming city and he lauded the Egypt post's good organization of this important event which is characterized by innovation and introducing varieties of important ideas which would help post organization globally.

He added that through years, some people expected a recession in the postal services due to the great development which the Technological sector has witnessed, but experiments confirmed that this development has not affect on the post,  but it added to it more progress, positively reflected on all the customers. He also pointed out that there are thousands of users depend currently on the electronic network of the post globally, the matter which facilitated the investment in all the postal services.

Dayan has pointed out that there are 8 Arab countries; involving  Egyp,t will sign an IFS agreement, soon, for transmitting money globally, to ease the financial deals through the post, especially under the growing numbers of immigrants allover the world.

He clarified that the international post union activated more of protocols for cooperation with the international organization for civil aviation (IATA) to guarantee reaching letters through the airmail easily and quickly. He confirmed that the post organizations are playing an important role in supporting the small and middle-size businesses, saying that this is a general trend especially in  such global financial crisis.
